Bald men at higher risk of serious corona virus infection: Research
Bald men have a higher risk of serious coronavirus infection than others. "Baldness in men is a risk factor for serious COVID-19 infections," said Professor Carlos Wembier, lead researcher on the study, conducted by Brown University in the United States.
Research has shown that after the outbreak of the coronavirus in Wuhan, China, in January, men are more at risk of dying from the pandemic than women.
In fact, two studies have been done to understand the link between coronavirus and baldness. A study of 41 corona patients in Spain found that more than 71% of them were bald. According to a Brown University study, 79% of the 122 corona patients tested were bald.
Got the same result
Both studies showed similar results. According to researchers, there is a significant link between baldness and severe corona infections. Researchers claim that the male sex hormone androgen coronavirus can increase the risk of infection. Due to this hormone, the effect of drugs in men is decreasing and patients become seriously ill. Recovery of such patients also takes longer.
Another study revealed
An earlier study had found that men had more molecules in their blood than women who could easily become carriers of the coronavirus. Infected men and women had the same age and number, but men had a more serious illness. The scientists also found that more than 70% of the patients who died were men, which means that the death rate of men could be 2.5 times higher than that of women. He said that regardless of the age of the man, being a man increases the risk of serious illness due to the virus.
